Namine was introduced in the first sequal to Kingdom Hearts, Chain of Memories. In this story, Namine was shown as the tool of Organization XIII; as a way to take control of Sora, the Keyblade Master. To acheive this, they used Namine to rearrange Sora's memories, as well as Goofy and Donald. This ability is the only apparant one she has at this time, but the reason she aquired is most likely due to the fact that she is a Nobody. "Who's Nobody in particular?", Kairi's. The only way for a nobody to exist, is when the original becomes heartless, this event occured when Destiny Islands (and Kairi) were temporarily in darkness.
Once Namine decided that she didnt wan't to help the Organization anymore, she promised Sora and his friends all of their memories back. To do this, she had to keep him in a hibernative state; which he recovered from, fully, a whole year later. After restoring her friends' memories, Namine continued to assist throughout the events of KH II (this last part will be updated at a future time).
